Where to stay in Chopta?
The one-day trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila is mainly in Chopta, returning on the same day. If you leave early, you can do this, for example at 7 o’clock in the morning. Tungnath must arrive at ten o’clock, the temple must be respected, and the scene must be appreciated. Continue to Chandrashila and return at 1pm. Along the way, enjoy lunch at Tungnath Temple or dhabas, and then start walking back to Chop Tower. Note: The return time is usually half the trek, you can return to Chopta after 2 hours from Chandrashila.
You can also live in a tent near Chopta, just before the beginning of the Tungnath temple. The tent is located in a green wetland, if you want a camping experience, it is best to stay. Even if you don’t book in advance, accommodation in and around Chopta is easy, depending on the season, weekend crowds, and the weather.
In worst case Jopta, you can drive 3 kilometers along the Gopeshwar route to choose your accommodation. In an area called Balkans, there are 45 hotels (it’s on the road to Mandal). I highly recommend this area to stay away from the crowds, away from the crowds. Try to make sure you find a place to stay as soon as possible. If you have your own tent, you can put it in a safe place after asking the locals and paying the fee.
Best Watching Time: When you arrive in Chopta around 3pm, you can start your trek to Tungnath and enjoy the best view from Tungnath to chopta Chandrashila trek. After 45 minutes, the trail leads to a lush green meadow with 34 stones in the meadow, flanked by a ring of snow-capped peaks. Simple and basic accommodation can be expected for Rs 100,150. They are all in these dhabas.
Scene # 2:
A simple life option in the form of a rustic hotel can reach Tungnath, which is very suitable for hikers. The sunrise landscape of Chandrashila Top is called legend. Living in Tungnath allows you to reach Chandrashila Top before sunrise; otherwise, the journey from Jorda can be a challenging start, and Chandrashila can only make it at sunrise!
There are options for living in Ukhimath, Kund, Srinagar and Rudraprayag. I stayed at the affordable but good 500 rupee hotel in Ukhimath.
Trekking from Chopta to Tungnath
Trekking to Chopta starts directly from the road and is surrounded by many hotels and dhabas. The sidewalk has been correctly marked and paved to Tungnath. At the beginning of the walk, trees welcome visitors; on the left is an endless snow peak. The entire journey from Chopta Trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila is relatively easy and does not require guide services.
The beautiful wetland appears about 45 minutes after the start of the hike, making it the best place to camp along the trail. There are tea, coffee, food and packed lunches, there are 34 dhabas. The dhabas also doubles as a basic shelter at night. If you need any help in an emergency or accident, these dhabas can also help.
Near this point, the trail continues to twist and climb. There are several places to sit and admire the snow-capped mountains. The lucky ones can also see the colorful Monal on the hillside near the Jotunna Temple in Uttarakhand.
When you ascend to 3,100 meters, the tree canopy gives way, the sun shines, and you reach Tungnath about halfway. Make sure you have enough water for walking. Especially for beginners, don’t forget this is a game, everyone has their own rhythm, so take your time, play steadily, and enjoy the panoramic view.
Tungnath, at an altitude of 3680 m, is one of Panch Kedar’s holy sites and the highest Shivan temple in the world. People believe that it has a history of more than 1,000 years. In winter, the temple is closed and the gods move to the village of Mukku. In summer, late April and November in winter, the Tungnath Temple opens its doors to pilgrims.
Reach Ravanshila about ten minutes before reaching Tungnath. This is the place where the devil Lord Shiva meditates. From Ravanshila you can see a panoramic view of the valley. If you are not sure about the location of Ravanshila, it is best to ask the locals or dhabawallahs near the temple.
about 10 minutes before reaching Tungnath, bypassed the top of the mountain named Ravanshila. This is the place where the demon King Robona meditated on Lord Shiva. From Ravanshila you can enjoy a panoramic view of the valley. If you are not sure about the location of Ravanshila, it is best to ask the locals or dhabawallahs near the temple.
